Longtime readers and listeners will know that I’ve raved about the wines produced by Wyncroft Wine, located in southwestern Michigan. The winemaker, Jim Lester, was featured in the podcast episode that was a master class on Chardonnay. Jim’s wife, Rae Lee Lester, succumbed to cancer this past Friday evening after a long and definitely heroic battle. 

Jim and Rae Lee have been members of our wine tasting group and “wine geek bunch” for years. We met through mutual friends, and have always enjoyed their company. Rae Lee was incredibly intelligent, had an amazing nose and palate, and had a phenomenal memory of wines she had tasted. 

Catherine and I will miss Rae Lee at our tastings, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim, his son Eric, daughter Hilary, and the rest of the family.
