Here in the U.S. we celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow. Many web writers take a moment to share their thoughts of gratitude and appreciation. I’m not going to go all over creation with a long list of things I’m thankful for, but there are a few worth mentioning.
- I’m grateful for the many years that my grandmother, Ann Duffy, was able to share with us. This will be our first holiday season without her, and we will miss her.
- I’m grateful for my wonderful wife, Catherine, who encourages me, helps me keep things in perspective, and is a far better life partner than I probably deserve.
- I’m grateful for the fact that our family has been spared the fate that so many have experienced in this ugly economy. As the saying goes, there but for the grace of God go I…
- I’m grateful to all of my readers. It has been fun to watch this web site’s readership grow over the last several months. The podcast continues to have about 25,000+ downloads a month. It’s great to know that my efforts to provide some wine education–as imperfect as they are–have been helpful to so many people.
Finally, I want to let you in on a little sneak preview of things to come here. In 2009, Catherine and I will have some added expenses coming into our budget. So, I’m working on a couple of projects that will be a first for Wine For Newbies–they’ll be available for purchase. As always, the podcast and these blog entries will remain free, but I am developing an ebook and screencasts that will take things to the next level of quality. Details are still being worked out, but I hope to have something put together that you will be able to purchase and give as a gift to the budding wine enthusiast in your circle.
