A New Year’s Resolution

by William Wilson on December 31, 2006

2007 is hours away, and now is a good time for you to make a New Year’s Resolution:

Resolve to learning as much as you can about one wine region in the world. It could be a whole country, like Spain, or one small region, like Alsace. Dig up what you can find online, read books, and drink wines from that region. Heck, you could even contribute your gained knowledge to Wikipedia’s wine pages.

My resolution for 2007 is to apply this idea to the wines of Italy–and to get back into writing down notes about every wine I taste in 2007. It will be interesting to see how many different wines cross my palate. :-)

I think this is a great New Year’s resolution. After a discussion with my wife on what country to pursue we agreed on Italy as well. We spent a few weeks in Tuscany in 2006 shooting landscapes and wineries and sampling the Nobili’s and Brunello’s. I think we’ll use the Wine Bible as our guide how to pursue the wines of Italy.

That’s a great idea Bill! Since I am from Canada I would like to better explore the wines from B.C.’s Okanagan Valley. In my opinion Canada makes some great wines that really fly under the radar.
